Weekly Meetings

The school year has started which means we are having our weekly meetings again. We will plan to meet every Monday at 4 pm in Sloan 161 (unless otherwise stated). We will update the events page on fundraising events, game nights, and other fun events. This club is not exclusive to engineering majors. People with various skills and backgrounds are welcome to join. We look forward to seeing you at the meetings!

Testing the Water Pump

Several members of EWB gathered together before traveling to Panama in order to be sure that the water pump design would work. The water pump was placed inside a trough of water and was wired up as it was designed to be in Panama. The result… the system worked as expected. Please follow along with us as we send a team to Panama.

Special Thanks To Our Donors

We just want to send a special thank you to all of those who have made a donation for our projects. The EWB dinner turned out to be a huge success helping us share more information about our project and also raising funds for our Panama trip this summer. At the dinner we also were treated with the presents of a special guest Senor Gujardo. He lives in Panama and is in constant communication with the communities. During the EWB dinner he explained to us why this means so much for the communities. Imagine having to carry gallons of water everyday just to cook, bathe, etc. This project has and will continue to change lives. While we raised quite a bit of money at the dinner, we are still short a few thousand dollars. If you feel moved to donate to our project, you can make a donation by clicking the link in the top right corner of this website. Again, thank you to all of our donors who were able to make it to the dinner and also those who weren’t but wanted to contribute.

EWB 2nd Annual Fundraising Dinner and Auction

THE DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED! The dinner will now be held on the 15th of February rather than November 12th.

Please join us for a pleasant, informative, and fun evening in the Ensminger Pavilion for EWB’s second annual fundraising dinner. We will be serving amazing food from our local restaurant South Fork with an open bar.

EWB is proud to present the work we have done so far to the WSU community and hope that we can inspire more members to become involved. Presentations will be given throughout the night by various EWB officers, our advisor Dr. Karl Olsen, and Destry Seiler about our project in the Panamanian village of Zapote. Destry Seiler was in Zapote as a Peace Corps volunteer and is the inspiration for our project there, so it is a privilege to hear her experiences and how we can help. Our first trip to Zapote was completed this past summer with great success, creating connections within the community and developing plans on how to move forward. Now, we are ready to share those plans.
All of the funds from this event go directly into our work in Panama and we are overjoyed to have the opportunity to include our community in making this project a success.

Wind Turbine Tower Testing

The Structures Team for the Renewable Energy Project tests the wind turbine tower during their Friday meeting. The tower features a tilt-up design with a pivot point 6 feet off the ground. This way the wind turbine can be easily raised and lowered for installation and maintenance.

If you would like to learn more about the structures team, e-mail Kevin Gowan at wsu.ewb@gmail.com or stop by Dana 37 at 4PM on Fridays.
